InnerGlow Surfaces developed Gilasi in 2002 to provide durable, elegant, solid surfaces made from locally recycled glass that had been destined for landfill.
Gilasi is manufactured in Chicago in a day-lit facility. Our location in the Industrial Council of Nearwest Chicago enables our employees to take advantage of bicycle lanes and public transportation.
All materials that comprise Gilasi are sourced locally, within 250 miles of our factory, and most of the material is sourced right in Chicago. They include waste glass from local businesses we have partnered with through the City of Chicago’s Waste to Profit Network.
More information about Gilasi's partnership with EGP can be found at the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Partnership site and at IMEC.org.
Gilasi countertops are composed of 85% recycled materials by weight, the bulk of which is glass that cannot be recycled in traditional methods.
Gilasi slabs currently are available in 27, 31.5 or 42 inch width, 1.25 inch thickness, and lengths up to 94.5 inches. Customizing the length of slabs reduces waste and unnecessary cost to customers.
